Almighty Alpha
There is no power that can compare to the Omnipotent power of Jesus Christ. Let all who will be free come unto Him for eternal deliverance.
The LORD God is a God of diversity, and with our human intellect it is a challenge to describe Him, understand Him, and often to comprehend His true nature. This message is written on the sole basis of glorifying the character of Jesus Christ, and is used as a ministering tool for those of us who often forget the nature of Christ.
JESUS CHRIST IS GOD ALMIGHTY
God which is the LORD Jesus Christ is often referred to as the Almighty; this describes His absolute power above all things, and His unlimited strength that never depletes. We declare this truth with boldness, and will prove it by several means: First, Jesus Christ is the Almighty because He created all things; Secondarily, Jesus Christ is the Almighty because there is none that can resist His will, not even the wrath of kings and pharaoh’s. Thirdly, Jesus Christ is declared by the word of God to be the Almighty, and it is expressed by His transcendent position; meaning that Jesus condescends to man and enlightens whom He wills, not vice versa.
JESUS IS CREATOR
We know Him as the Almighty in creation; because He has created all things, and for this cause all things are subject to His rule. From the blazing sun to the insignificant seaweed at the
bottom of the ocean; from the shining moon to the hiding earth worms; God created all, is above all, and is Emperor of universal existence. The word of God declares, “in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Gen. 1:1)”; it also declares, concerning Jesus Christ, “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him and for him (Col. 1:15).” The host of heaven do not contradict this statement but affirm it in Rev 4:11, saying, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” This is indeed proof that Christ is the Almighty God.
BENDS THE WILL OF KINGS
The Almighty that bent the will of kings for His people, saying, “touch not mine anointed and do my prophets no harm (Ps. 105:15),” is the same LORD that defends us by His ordained power, and favors us with His everlasting Spirit. Not even the stubborn wrath of the Pharaoh could bend God’s will, but on the contrary his will was bent (Ex. 7-11); not only was his will bent, but his entire kingdom was bent, overthrown, and the wealth of the Egyptians was given to the people of Israel. God’s will dominates the will of men, because He is the Almighty; and Jesus declares in Rev 1:8 “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, . . . which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” Therefore we see that the God that spoke through Moses was Jesus Christ, the Almighty, controlling and dictating the fate of the pharaoh.
We also see the pre-eminent will of God in the life of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. He boasted of his wealth, pomp, and power, and looked to himself as his own god. Nevertheless God overthrew his words, and declared who the Most High God was. When the three Hebrew children refused to bow down to the golden statue of Nebuchadnezzar’s false god, the king made this statement, “if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands? (Daniel 3:15).” He exalted himself believing that his hand was most powerful, but God through a supernatural miracle changed his words to “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word . . . (Dan. 3:28).”
What an Almighty God who expresses His power, and salvation to the world; He bends the will of kings and performs His own counsel. Later Nebuchadnezzar had another encounter with God, and gave Him this praise, saying, “all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say What doest thou? (Dan. 4:35).” Let us give praise to Jesus Christ who is God Almighty.
ENLIGHTENS WHOM HE WILL
The same Almighty that appeared to Abraham has chosen to appear to us: the same Illuminator that enlightened Moses has come to enlighten us. Abraham did not reach out to God, and ask God to receive Him, he may have done that secondarily; but first, God reached down from high heaven and touched him and called him; in other words, God quickened Abraham and brought his spirit to life to hunger for God. This shows God’s omnipotence, in that, He speaks first and then we respond, not vice versa. Jesus says “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draws him: and I will raise him up at the last day (Jn 6:44).”
We also see this in God illuminating Moses. While Moses attended the sheep of Jethro, his father-in-law he was content. He was not aware of the work that God wanted to accomplish through him; nevertheless, God expressed it when He appeared to him in a flame of fire. The light of that fire could represent the illumination of God’s Spirit; in a sense it could display the light of the gospel. Moses would not have known his potential if God would not have first apprehended him; neither would we have known our potential if the gospel truth had not come our way. God is the Almighty; we may reach out to God, but it is because God has first reached out to us. The Almighty that empowered men and women in days of old to “shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him,” is the same Omnipotent One that has poured out the power of His Spirit in our lives to testify to the world that Jesus Christ lives, and He reigns as King of kings, and Lord of lords. Praise the name of the Lamb.
CULMINATES THE WORLD AND JUDGES
He is the Initiator of mankind, and He is the conclusion of mankind. He is the beginning of life, and the end of all life. The final way that God Almighty will show the world His strength is when he brings the dead from their graves, and shackles all rebels and brings them before his judgment seat. All men will be powerless, helpless, and speechless in that day, and all will be judged according to their works. John says in Rev 20:12, “I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.” May we all prepare for the judgment of that great day, for none will escape the wrath of Him who sits upon the great white throne. Those who have put their faith and hope in the power of God’s saving gospel will be delivered. Jesus Christ is the Almighty, and all will know it.
JESUS IS ALPHA
There was none before God, and there will be none after Him; He created time, can live in time, and abides as the Ancient of days outside of time. The Lord God is the beginning of all things, and for this cause He is justified in being entitled as the Alpha or the First, meaning the First of all existence. We declare this truth with all boldness, and will prove by several means that God is the Alpha: First, God is Alpha because the word of God declares Him so; Secondarily, God is Alpha because He is the creator of all life; Thirdly, Christ is Alpha because He is God manifested in the flesh.
The Alpha and Omega that gave John the promise “I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely (Rev 21:6)” is fulfilling His promise by satisfying we who are Gentiles after the flesh with the living water of the Holy Ghost. Whatever He has done in the past for others, He is on the horizon to do it for His people today because He is the LORD, and He changes not (Malachi 3:6). Jesus Christ is the Living and True God.
ALPHA OF ALL LIFE
We know Him as the Alpha: He has neither father nor mother: there is no one before or beside God; He is the beginning of all things and the Everlasting Father of all things. In the history of man, the LORD proves Himself to be the Alpha. The attributes of God are always the same, even as it is written “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever (Heb. 13:8)”: therefore the God that breathed into Adam is still breathing into others, giving life, and preserving life; he did not stop with Adam who was made a living soul, but through Christ He also manifested His deity and power over life by breathing into his disciples the Holy Ghost and gave them a quickening spirit (Jn 20:22).
Outside of God there is no life, no breath, no spirit; we are all His offspring, for “God is Spirit.” If God had not breathed the breath of life into Adam, there would never have been a human race; if Christ had never breathed into His disciples, the Holy Ghost there would never have been a Christian race: but because He breathed the world continues to multiply, and the church is unstoppable. On a spiritual note, the author of Life teaches us that except we abide in him, we have no life in us (Jn 6:53). The life of the Spirit is the only true life, and without that life we are all dead men. By the Spirit of God we are quickened to life (Jn 6:63), and only in the Spirit will we remain alive.
Jesus is life, the producer of life, and Life says, “¼no man cometh unto the Father but by me (John 14:6).”
Anyone who neglects the call of Christ into the life of the gospel is worthy of spiritual death; for what dog is there, who having been raised by his master will reject his command or attack him without facing severe punishments? Or what child having been brought into this world by the life of his father and mother, will be rebellious, and his life not be cut short by the Almighty? Even so, anyone who rejects the Spirit of life deserves death: wisdom teaches us “all they that hate me love death, (Pr. 8:36). Jesus Christ is the Alpha of all life’s existence, even as the angels declare “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created (Rev. 4:11)”, Therefore if the creation rejects the Creator it is not worthy to exist; if the living refuse the Life, they are not worthy to live.
ALPHA WHICH SPEAKS TRUTH
The Alpha, who spoke with Adam in the cool of the day, is the same Jesus which opens our ears “to hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches (Rev 2:29). There are many voices in the world as I Corinthians 14:10 tell us, but there is only one true voice, and that is the voice of Jesus Christ. From the days of Adam His word has prevailed, prospered, and accomplished the thing that He pleased (Is 55:10), and that word is still prospering today.
The scripture teaches us that Satan is the father of liars; he has a voice, but not a true voice: he has always attempted to be like the Most High, but could never get above the six, whereas God dwells in the level perfection, seven. He desires to speak with mankind as God does, but the word that he declares is the word of lies and hypocrisy (II Timothy 4:1). Therefore we classify God as the Alpha which speaks truth, we know that He is the beginning because of the truth He spoke with our first parents, Adam and Eve; our founding fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and ultimately by the word that He continues through His church until this time. God’s word is immutable; God’s word is unchangeable and He is the true Alpha, the Almighty Alpha!
As we reflect upon the many bountiful and beneficial blessings of our Sovereign Savior, it is needful to remember where He has brought us from, and to reflect on the bridges that He has carried us over. It is of great importance to give Him the honor due unto His name for the many mountains that He has carried us to, through, and over. As I reflect upon the great grace of God, the many promises He has made to me by way of dreams, visions, and prophecy, I have been inspired to write this poem in dedication to the Almighty Alpha. It is written to Him who alone establishes His word, and blesses His children in the midst of their enemies.
Genesis 17:1 “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.”
Revelation 22:13 “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”Revelation 1:8 “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”
Blessed Benevolent One
No one can change the fact that the LORD is a God of blessings, and a God of benevolence. Our God, indeed, is a blessing God. Bless the LORD.
JESUS CHRIST IS BLESSED
There is but one Blessed One; He is the LORD Jesus Christ; all others are blessed by Him. When we refer to Him as the Blessed, we express His highness, and our reverence for Him. The word Blessed means to be held in reverence and honored in worship.
SPIRITUALLY EXALTED
He is Blessed in that He is spiritually exalted as the only Great King; He sits on the right hand of the power of God. When we call the LORD Blessed, we honor Him in our worship as the Source from which all blessings flow: we adore Him realizing that, “every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning (James 1:17).”
POSSESSES ALL RICHES
The fact that Christ possesses all riches declares that He is the Blessed. This is a significant truth for His people; because He is rich, we too are rich because of His Spirit which dwells within us. The world offers false riches that perish, but Jesus Christ possesses the true and enduring riches. The riches that Christ gives cannot be stored by carnal means; they are stored by prayer, by fasting, and by the relationship we have with Him and His word. We must have fervency for spiritual gifts and blessings. If you lack in anything, it is not because God desires you to come behind in a gift; it is because you have not heeded the counsel of God, to come unto Him and buy the gold tried in the fire (Rev. 3:18). Even the riches of angels praise the glory of the Lamb; they declare to Christ His worth, saying, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing (Rev. 5:12).
HAS ALL POWER
Christ’s blessedness is seen through His omnipotence (all power). Who is a strong God like unto our God? Who possesses the power of the heavens? Who controls the winds and the sea by the power of His word? There is none so blessed as the risen Son of God. Through His power he cast out Satan; not with exercising His full arm of power, but by the finger of His strength. No one can stand on the territory of the Almighty Christ without submitting to His power and authority. Jesus declared, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth (Matt. 28:18)”, and His word is the truth.
With this in mind, we should ask ourselves, does He need us, or do we need Him? Would Christ continue to build His church without us; would His ministry function without us? Is He able to raise up stones in the place of hard hearts and stiffed necks? We all know the answers to these questions; we know that Christ does not need us, but He loves us. It is our wisdom to soften our hearts and walk in the counsel of God. It is our wisdom to submit to His Almighty power and Supreme will.
While going through a great tribulation in my life, and facing much spiritual persecution; I felt perplexed and angered by my conditions. I found myself crying out to God in the night for pain; I found myself restraining from praying prayers of vengeance against my enemies. The LORD God woke me up late that night, and I heard the voice of a man in a vision, saying, “the same God that was in Jesus is in you, He’s in you, He’s in you.” Here was God reminding me and encouraging me not to be sidetracked by the cares of this life; He was encouraging me to refocus my attention on the mighty power of God. Jesus possesses all power, and He knows who needs the divine touch in moments of weakness and frustration.
HE POSSESSES ALL WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE
As God cries out through the prophet, “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure . . . (Is 46:9-10).” God wants us to know that He is the only God, and that He is the only fountain of blessing. Through the wisdom and knowledge He possesses, He is able to declare the end from the beginning; all things are present and now to God; with Him there is neither past nor future, but He sees all things in the now. His wisdom is to deep to be comprehended, and His knowledge cannot be searched. Christ proves to us that He is the only Blessed, and He is the only One worthy of holding such a position.\
JESUS CHRIST IS BENEVOLENT
Jesus Christ is forever the same; He is the Benevolent One. The word benevolent is defined as being charitable rather than profit-making. He seeks the good will of His creation; He is bountiful in giving to the works of His hands. His desire to bless us is so great that He made Himself a body and came down from high heaven in order to offer himself up as a perfect, sinless sacrifice to redeem us back to Himself.
JESUS IS SELFLESS
Is it hard for you to share? Do you welcome strangers when they come to your house? Do you reject them before they can present their cause? Well, hopefully if you take on the name of Christ you are a sharing and caring individual; when strangers come to your house or to the house of God you entreat them as angels. The word of God teaches us that Jesus gave to every man that asked him, and the only request he did not say yes to was to the one that his disciples asked for selfishly, in order to consume it upon their own lusts (Mark 10:37-40, James 4:3). Every where Christ went he healed, he fed, he gave selflessly. He practiced what one man called the SOW principle, by taking care of the Strangers, Orphans, and Widows. May we take on the same benevolent nature as our Savior and give without remembering to whom we gave.
Once, while in prayer, the Spirit of God gave me a vision. In the vision, someone said to me, “what kind of proposition was God making when He said . . .” “HO, every one that thirsteth,
come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price (Is 55:1).” God was making a selfless proposition, He was making a proposition that would improve His people, but would give Him no more than friendship. God was making a proposition of trade; the agreement is to give God our hearts, souls, minds, and strength; He in turn will give us His Spirit and all things that pertain to life
and godliness. God knows that there is nothing that we can give Him; and He does not require us to give Him any more than ourselves, and our sincere sacrifice. May we take on the selfless nature of Christ.
MADE POOR THAT WE MIGHT BE MADE RICH
He stepped down from His throne. Here He was arrayed with pure light, adorned with white robes of splendor, was ministered to by an innumerable multitude of angels, and inhabited eternal rest. He left these grand beauties to enter into the land of an impoverished earth. He did it for you and I. He went into the depths of poverty to redeem those in poverty. Through this great redemption He has made us rich because of the everlasting riches and honor He possesses in heaven. Do you have that same heart of God? Are you willing to step down from your position of financial stability and apparel beauty for the purpose of redeeming beggars from their place of spiritual and natural poverty?
Christ called a young man to follow Him; he promised the young man riches and eternal life, if he would forsake all and follow him (Matt 19:21). My question to you is this: are you willing to lay down your vehicles, your computers, your houses, your lands, sell them and give the increase to the poor? This is the price of the kingdom of God; the willingness to forsake all things for the LORD and for His kingdom’s sake. If Christ has sacrificed so much for us, we likewise should be willing to do it for someone else; after all, we have His Spirit.
Although Christ may not be calling us in the exact manner that He called this young man; He still expects the same obedience from all of His disciples, otherwise we cannot be one of his disciples. The heart we must possess to please Christ, is the heart that we must have to reach the poor; the heart that puts self last, in order to help someone else (Mark 10:45). Christ is just in expecting this loyalty from His saints because He did it for us (Ephesians 4:32). Will you be like the rich man who went away sorrowful and lost a relationship with Christ because he couldn’t serve Christ and his riches? Or will you be like Paul, counting all things as dung to win Jesus Christ? As one pastor said it, “on the day of judgment the rich man will wish he had given double.”
Gave His Life, Gave His All
Through His willingness to die for us, we ultimately see His benevolent love; we perceive that if God was willing to give His life, He is also willing to give us all things freely. Through creation we see that God is a God of benevolence; He has given life to all things. He has given us companionship and maintains all things by the word of His mouth. Jesus said in John 6:51, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” Christ gave up His life that we might have life; this is the pinnacle for our belief that Christ is benevolent. There is no heart like His; none as deep; none as wide. He gave up his life for His friends, and that is the greatest love that anyone can give.
Peter loved Jesus greatly; he loved him so much that he felt that he was ready to give up his life for Jesus. Well, Peter found out shortly that giving up your life is much harder than can be imagined by the carnal mind. Peter wanted to take the way of the sword, and the way of the flesh; but the way of the flesh was too weak. Not only did Peter miserably deny his Lord, but he was so far from giving up his life, that he could not even pray with Jesus for one hour. Jesus said to Peter in Matthew 25:40, “What, could ye not watch with me one hour?” If you want to express to God your willingness to die for His causes learn to wait with Him in prayer first; learn to watch with Him in times of suffering.
God has magnified His mercy towards humankind in that He has bestowed upon us the Holy Ghost. Jesus Christ promised to his apostles that he would send back the Comforter which is the Holy Ghost; he performed His promise, and today we are living witnesses that God’s Spirit and power is yet being given to those who ask and seek for it. As a witness of Christ, I can testify that the Holy Ghost is real; in fact He is more real and existent than the life your living right now; He is more dependable than the chair you sit in, or the house you live in. At the age of seventeen the LORD filled me with the power of the Holy Ghost; and as the sign was in the days of the apostles, I received the same sign by speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gave me the utterance (Acts 2:1-4).
Not only did God speak through me with the tongues of men and of angels (I Cor. 13:1); God anointed me with the spirit of prophecy to have understanding of spiritual things in the present and spiritual things to come. When Christ called me, sanctified me, and made my soul a habitation for His Spirit, dreams were no longer the same; no longer did I dream of carnal things, and things to no significance; the Spirit of God brought me into a higher and stronger dimension of living; He began to reveal to me secret things; He began to reveal mysteries of who the Christ was that apprehended my body, soul, and spirit (I Cor. 14:3, 39). Now that Christ has filled me with His Spirit, I can attest, that He is the speaking God, He is the word of God, and the God of the word; He is the True God, and the Benevolent God.
The Blessed One which promised Joseph that some day he would be a man of power, and a ruler of the world, brought it to pass (Genesis 41:40). The Benevolent One who made a covenant with Israel, saying, that He would keep them from sickness if they would keep His commandments, kept His word (Ps 105:37). Our Father who promised in Malachi 3:8-10: “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it”, has been fulfilling His word in every generation; sending blessings to the obedient and curses to the disobedient. The same Blessed Benevolent One who gave the promise that if we would seek for the gift of the Holy Ghost, is still giving it freely to all who ask, seek, and knock (Matt. 7:7, Act 2:39). Keep Jesus and come to Jesus, and you will find that He is the God of promise.
In meditating on God’s benevolence I’m reminded of so many times when God intervened and blessed me in times of struggle and confusion. God indeed performs His promises for those who wait. If Christ has ever made you a promise, that promise will most certainly come to pass: often people are so distracted by the here and now, that they lose their focus, and in turn they lose their promises. God will ultimately find someone through whom He will fulfill the promise. God’s word is immutable and unchangeable; if He said it, you can count on it. As we go forth through these days of challenge, and as we encounter new things (whether good or evil), let us take the perspective that God ultimately is Blessed, and no matter what’s going on, His plan is to bless us. I have been inspired to write this poem in dedication to the Blessed Benevolent One who has kept me, and opened His hands of generosity so many times. It is written in dedication to Him who alone establishes His word, and it is written for His children to take comfort in His bountiful blessings. Trust in God.
Psalm 68:19 “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.”
Luke 2:10 “. . . Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the LORD.
Compassionate Comforter
Where do we find compassion in such a terrible age? Where do we find Comfort in such troublesome times? The only place we can find these attributes is in the loving God, Jesus Christ.
JESUS CHRIST IS COMPASSIONATE
Have you ever felt that no one cares about you? Have you ever thought that you were alone and without hope in a cruel and unfair world? Has it ever pierced your thoughts that in the midst of millions of people you’re just another insignificant number in the bunch? Well, someone wants you to know that he cares, His name is Jesus Christ.
CHRIST FEELS AND RELIEVES OUR PAIN
He wants you to know that when your down and distressed, His heart is perfectly attentive on you and He longs to relieve your pain. Jesus Christ is the author of compassion and the Father of love. He feels your infirmities and knows you weaknesses; He groans because of your spiritual, mental, and physical wounds. As much as you want to be well, He wants you to be well because He made you and fashioned you with His own hands. The Comforter wants to comfort you.
ETERNALLY SATISFIES THE PATIENT SUFFERER
The Lord whom I speak of is full of compassion and comfort. Though we have not seen Him face to face, one day, “every eye shall see him (Rev 1:7)”; and we who have waited patiently for redemption, healing, and salvation, shall be eternally satisfied. Though we have not touched him with our hands; one day, we who wait for Him will know that our hopes were not in vain, and He who has compassion shall have compassion on us forever. No longer will we have sicknesses and afflictions; no longer will condemnation gall us; no longer will our outer appearances rob us of inner joy and steal the greater joys of life.
We must learn to elevate our minds to the heavens above temporary conditions, and realize that our present state isn’t eternal. We must never allow the evil one who scratches, tempts, and tries us, to speak through us in bitterness toward our loving Savior. Jesus Christ is the Father of lights; light and goodness proceed from Him. Satan is the father of lies, and all evil proceeds from him. We must be aware of whom we receive our messages from. Truth and light will testify of Christ, and lies and darkness will testify of the devil.
STRENGTHENS THE HEART OF THE WEAK
You can know Christ, and if your obedient you will know Christ as the Compassionate Comforter. In your times of weakness He will be there to strengthen your heart, as it is written in the psalms, “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD (Psalm 27:14).”
